The original B37 was a short route which started on the B18 at Ballaveare and headed south east along the Port Soderick Glen Road to the coast at Port Soderick. As far as can be ascertained, the route stopped at the hotel and made no attempt to connect to the Marine Drive, which later became the A37 and runs along the coast to Douglas. This is the highest numbered B road known from the original numbering scheme, and appears to have been classified in the 1930s. The whole route had been renumbered as the B23 by 1963.
The Manx Government Circular 1814 of 17/08/1937 defines this route as: Port Soderick Road from the Old Castletown Road to the Beach
