The C1185 mostly follows the former B8006 on the north shore of Loch Shiel, near Acharacle. It starts on the A861 about 3 miles east of Shiel Bridge, at the southern end of Drynie Hill, and runs east, winding down the hill towards the loch shore. The final approach to the farm is along a former unclassified road, with the B8006 having forked left along a now gated track, before dropping down a narrow path into the farmyard. The C1185 stays closer to the loch shore, crossing fields to reach the farm.
