Route outline (key)
C1164 Fort William - Blarmachfoldach
This article is about the Class III road numbered C1164 maintained by Highland Council.

The C1164 runs south from the West End Roundabout on the A82 in Fort William, following the old military road built by Major Caulfeild in the 1750s. It climbs up from the roundabout, quite steeply at times, along Lundavra Road, passing through the large housing development of Upper Achintore. This first half mile or so is a long , wide straight piece of road, but it suddenly reduces to single track and passes through a cattle grid. There is a small car park area with a fine viewpoint over the town, and then the road reaches a summit and starts to descend into the valley of the River Kiachnish.

At the bottom is the scattered village of Blarmachfoldach, and the C1164 stops at a seemingly random point in the village. However, this is the site of the old school, a fairly sensible terminus. A U road continues south along the military road to Blar a Chaorunn, and then turns west to Lundavra, whilst the military road continues ahead, through the forest and still busy as part of the West Highland Way. It eventually leads to Kinlochleven, and then over the Devils Staircase on its long walk south to Milngavie near Glasgow.
