The C1011 serves the small village of Talmine and neighbouring settlements to the north west of Tongue. It starts at the west end of the Kyle of Tongue Causeway and heads north. This junction was new when the causeway was built, the previous junction with the A838 being a little further west, opposite where the old line of the A838 heads south around the head of the Kyle.
The C1011 follows the shore for a short while, before turning a little inland past Melness House. The settlements of Midtown and Skinnet are then passed through before Talmine is reached. The road runs around above the small bay, and then turns inland a little once more, crossing the moorland to Strathan, where it curves round to head south west above the Strath Melness Burn. After crossing the stream, the C1011 comes to an end at Dalnafree. There are a variety of minor roads and driveways that spur of the C1011 along its length, stretching out to the scattered houses and farms in the surrounding landscape.
