For other roads numbered C44, see C44.
The C44 forms a Y shaped route which comes about as a consequence of the fact that for much of its distance it is actually two clearly separate roads. It starts on the A6 in Dunadry and reaches the B95 just to the north west. After a multiplex with the B95, the road continues initially north west followed by north from the B95 spur near Antrim used for access to the M2 nearby. The C44 soon crosses a bridge over the M2 and at this point the road splits at a T junction with the C44 continuing straight on and also to the right. The road to the right follows Ballynoe Road as it winds its way north eastwards and then northwards to meet the C43 near Tardree Forest. The other continuation of the C44, this time straight on, continues to follow Crosskennan Road as it gradually veers round to the north west to terminate on the C45 between Antrim and Kells.
