The C701 is an urban route which passes through the eastern suburbs of Belfast. It starts off on the A24 Ormeau Road initially following both Knockbreda Road and Rosetta Park although these two roads soon converge and the route turns north onto Mount Merrion Avenue. Soon the road comes to a roundabout where it crosses the path of the C704. The road continues north east along Ladas Drive, Grand Parade and North Road, meeting the A23 and passing over Comber Greenway as it does so. The road swings north west after crossing the A20 and finishes its journey as Dundela Road where it meets the B505, Holywood Road.
